AS Roma get a chance if they are to stand any chance of wresting the Serie A title away from champions and leaders Inter Milan.
Italy’s top two meet at the San Siro in midweek where a victory for the hosts would almost certainly fire them to a third straight title.
The current gap between the two is nine points, cut down from 11 as Inter were held to a 1-1 draw at Sampdoria on Sunday while Roma pulled off a fortunate 1-0 home success over Fiorentina.
Juventus in third suffered their third defeat of the season when they went down 2-1 at struggling Reggina.
Nicola Amoruso’s controversial late penalty against his former club had Juve up in arms, especially after they had three strong penalty appeals turned down.
AC Milan’s patchy home form looked set to continue before substitute Filippo Inzaghi headed in his first league goal of the season in stoppage time to seal a 2-1 win over Palermo.
The victory sent the European champions into fourth above Fiorentina.
