Bayern to face Red Star in UEFA Cup

Former European champions Bayern Munich was drawn to play Red Star Belgrade in the group stages of the UEFA Cup.

Besides 1991 European champion Red Star and Premier League team Bolton Wanderers, Bayern was also drawn with Braga and Aris Salonika in Group F.

Two former winners were also paired in the same group - Tottenham and Anderlecht ini Group G.

Tottenham won the first UEFA Cup in 1972 and lifted the trophy again in 1984, when it beat Anderlecht on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw. Anderlecht won the UEFA Cup in 1983.

They were joined in Group G by Getafe, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Aab Aalborg.

Bayer Leverkusen, which won the 1988 UEFA Cup, was drawn in Group E with Sparta Prague, Spartak Moscow, Toulouse and FC Zurich.

Turkish club Galatasaray, winners in 2000, will be hopeful of finishing in the top three of Group H which also includes Girondins Bordeaux and Austria Vienna.

The top three clubs from each group advance to the knockout stage, where they will be joined by eight clubs who finish third in their Champions League groups.

The final is scheduled for May 14 at the City of Manchester Stadium.
