De Rossi Penalty Down Inter

The Giallorossi made it two in a row against Inter Milan as the Capital city side defeated the Nerazzurri 1-0 at San Siro to take home the Italy’s Super Cup trophy on Sunday.

Roberto Mancini’s side missed several good chances in the curtain raiser to the Italian campaign and Roma, who beat Inter in last season’s Cup final, triumphed after Nicolas Burdisso felled Francesco Totti in the area.

Daniele De Rossi’s spotkick just evaded the fingertips of Julio Cesar to nestle in the corner and spark wild celebrations from the visiting Roma fans, whose side finished a distant second to Inter in Serie A last term.

Roma cold not have hoped for a better start to their season. After some disappointing performances in the pre-season, when the real football came, the Giallorossi proved that they are up there with both Inter and AC Milan plus the new comer Juventus.
