Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg won their first European silverware.

Second-half goals from Igor Denisov and Konstantin Zyrianov secured a 2-0 victory over Rangers in the UEFA Cup final on Wednesday.

Real Madrid came from behind with two goals in the last three minutes at Osasuna to retain the Primera Liga title in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 win.

“We are worthy champions and we fully deserve to win this title,” said Real coach Bernd Schuster.

Thousands of Real Madrid fans converged on the famous Cibeles fountain in the Spanish capital after the match to celebrate their team’s 31st league title.

Bayern claim Bundesliga title

The beer flowed as Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title on Sunday after a lacklustre 0-0 draw at VfL Wolfsburg gave them the precious point to be crowned German champions for the 21st time.

The stalemate in Wolfsburg puts Bayern on 67 points - ten more than second-placed Werder Bremen - and with only three games left this season, Munich can not be caught.

Bayern have now won the league, German Cup and German League Cup this season.

Rangers, Zenit in UEFA Cup final

Glasgow Rangers will meet Zenit St. Petersburg in the UEFA Cup final following upset victories Thursday night.

Rangers advanced to its first European final since 1972, winning 4-2 on penalty kicks at Fiorentina following a 0-0 tie in overtime left the aggregate scoreless in the home-and-home semifinal.

Zenit sent visiting Bayern Munich to its most one-sided defeat in six years, beating the German Bundesliga leader 4-0 to win 5-1 on aggregate and reach the UEFA Cup final for the first time.

The final of Europe’s No. 2 club competition is May 14 at Manchester, England.

Madrid inches closer

Real Madrid moved a step closer to clinching the Primera Liga crown on Sunday.

Javier Saviola opened the scoring for Madrid as the defending champions defeated Athletic Bilbao, 3-0, at the Bernabeu.

Inter move closer to title

Inter Milan will retain their title if they defeat AC Milan in next weekend’s derby after the Serie A leaders beat Cagliari 2-1 on Sunday.

Julio Cruz claimed the first goal although the ball seemed to come off Cagliari defender Paolo Bianco’s shoulder last, but there was no doubt about Marco Materazzi’s towering header in the second half.

Chelsea beats Man United 2-1

Chelsea kept the Premier League title race alive by beating Manchester United 2-1 on Saturday, leaving the teams tied on points with two games to go.

Michael Ballack scored the winner with a penalty in the 86th minute—his second goal of the game—after a hand ball by Michael Carrick in the penalty area.

The two teams now have 81 points, although United keeps the lead because of a better goal difference.

Barcelona lose 2-0 at Depor

A second-string Barcelona side were beaten 2-0 at Deportivo Coruna in the Primera Liga on Saturday.

Coach Frank Rijkaard was clearly focused on next week’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Manchester United, retaining only three starters from Wednesday’s 0-0 first-leg draw.
